Where to run in Dundee for beginners? I see a lot of runners at all times of the day in Dundee and i know all to well how it feels to run alone. For me I had terrible anxiety about running alone, so i would go out at 5am or 1am so I wouldn't pass any people. The timings were ruining my body clock and i wasn't getting the best out of my runs. I Googled running in Dundee and read all about this amazing running group in Dundee that was more focused on the community spirit of things than competitive runs. The club meet up at the Sweatshop Store based in David Lloyd in Monifieth (click here for location). The club goes out 3 times a week.
The video below explains the Sweatshop Running Community better than i ever could. There is perks to running with the club... like Advice Drinks, T Shirts, Foam Rollers, Watches and Running Shoes, plus it's all FREE!! Now i work for the company that organises the runs and have met loads of new people i now class as friends. Visit the website to see more about the club (click on the logo) This is spot on, To high five or not?? Also i have the same logistic distance skills as the girl in the video. If you have met me and we have spoke about this site before, you'll know it was built on the basis that I had terrible anxiety about running and wanted to help others overcome it, like I'm am doing. With a headline like... "To the fatty running on the Westview track" This article really stood out to me and put me in an instant foul mood but there is a shock ending. Click on the photo to see the article... I am often asked what's the best way to start running for beginners. So I've posted a few things to help you get started or to get back into running. The first is fairly basic but can be printed off or saved so you can see it whenever. It's really easy to follow and should work great for most people although you'll likely advance quicker than the weeks suggest. There is also a more detailed plan from the NHS called Couch to 5K the involves loads of added extras too. The highly recommended My Asics lets you decide how far your goal is, then it will come up with a training plan just for you that is printable. It can also be joint up with a free App that includes gps to track your runs. This was recommend to me for my first half marathon and i know of others than use it and love it. Here is a brief review of it from Gizmodo (<-Click to see review) If you like to be more social and run with other folk then Sweatshop have a beginners group that depart from David Lloyd Gym in Monifieth every Sunday morning at 10.30am. If your felling a bit more adventurous they do 2 other runs that feature 3K/5K/8K on Tuesday night at 7pm and Wednesday night at 6:30pm
